It’s been announced that from 23rd June the 353 bus is seeing a reduction in frequency on Monday to Saturday.

The bus provides a crucial link to Princess Royal University Hospital, and travels from Orpington to Princess Royal University Hospital, then Hayes to New Addington.

It’s part of an ongoing process chipping away at bus service levels as a cut of £700m a year to TfL from Central Government and Mayor Said Khan’s fare freeze (costing £120 million) conspire to affect income.

According to TfL:

We’re changing the frequency:

Monday to Saturday daytimes buses will run every 20 minutes (previously every 15 minutes)

This is to match demand, and to continue to provide additional time in the timetable for bus drivers to use the toilet facilities midroute at Addington Village Interchange.

We are unable to continue to fund the additional cost of this additional time while maintaining the same frequency, and we are unable to provide driver toilet facilities at either end of the route as would be normal practice.
