There’s plans to more than double the number of new homes being built in Bromley borough each year.

The current aspiration is 641 homes but draft plans see that jump to 1,424 homes. There is pressure from both London Mayor Sadiq Khan and Conservative Central Government to increase numbers.

Bromley Borough have claimed this will mean more towers. This is likely, though substantial mid-rise could be built in certain areas such as underused space around Lower Sydenham station.

Transport concerns are also raised though Bromley Council have generally not done a great deal to improve public transport links. They’ve been lukewarm on plans to replace the four trains an hour Southeastern service with Bakerloo Line running at least 12 times an hour after 2030.

Nor done too much on lobbying for improvements on Southeastern service levels in any future franchise.

Consultation on these plans is ongoing here.
