The leader of Bromley Council Colin Smith will see a rise of 25 per cent to £40,000.

However this is still below most other councils. Lewisham Council’s leader gets £78k and Greenwich’s leader takes home £52k.

Bexley’s leader received £27,457 this year in addition to a standard allowance of £9,606.

The increase is controversial as cuts continue across services and staff are to receive a far lower increase – and council tax is rising by 3.99 per cent.

Colin Smith (Conservative – Bickley Ward) has led the council since Semptember 2018.
