Debenhams have announced the closure of a further 22 stores as the struggling retailer battles to survive.

One of those is the Orpington branch.

The company recently entered into a pre-pack admin in an attempt to stay afloat. As part of that move shareholders were pretty much wiped out with Sport’s Direct chief Mike Ashley losing up to £150 million. He had long attempted to take over control.

Debenham’s chief exec announced his departure last week.

Jim Tucker, at administrators KPMG said: “Today’s announcement marks the next phase of Debenhams’ financial and operational restructuring strategy, following the comprehensive funding package announced at the end of March.”
